Bersatu's Information Chief for its youth wing, Harris Idaham Rashid, has levelled accusations that the Perikatan Nasional (PN) leadership has reorganised the coalition's structure without obtaining formal authorisation from the alliance's Supreme Council.
The allegation suggests that PAS, the dominant party within the three-party PN coalition, may be attempting to diminish Bersatu's influence while elevating the profile of Amanah, another coalition member. Harris' statement indicates internal discord over governance procedures within the opposition alliance.
The controversy centres on whether structural changes to the coalition were implemented in accordance with established protocols and with the requisite approval from the alliance's top governing body. Such disputes over coalition management have previously triggered friction between member parties.
Bersatu has held a significant position within the PN alliance since its formation, though tensions have periodically surfaced regarding the distribution of roles and influence among coalition partners. The current dispute underscores ongoing challenges in maintaining unity within opposition political alliances in Malaysia's complex political landscape.
