PAS and PN target 126 seats in coordinated election strategy

The Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition and PAS have identified 126 parliamentary seats as their primary targets in a coordinated electoral push, according to PN information chief Annuar Musa. The strategic focus reflects a concentrated effort to maximise the opposition bloc's chances in key battleground constituencies across the country.

While both PN and PAS have aligned their campaign machinery to target these constituencies, the specific seat distribution between the coalition and the Islamic party remains subject to internal negotiations. Annuar Musa indicated that PAS's top leadership would make the final determination on which seats the party would contest, allowing flexibility in seat-sharing arrangements with PN.

The targeting of 126 seats represents a significant portion of Malaysia's 222 parliamentary constituencies, suggesting PN and PAS are concentrating their resources on winnable seats rather than attempting a nationwide campaign across all constituencies. This strategy is common among opposition coalitions seeking to optimise limited campaign resources and avoid three-cornered contests that could divide anti-government votes.

The seat allocation strategy underscores the ongoing coordination between PN and PAS despite occasional public friction between the partners.
