PAS, BN reach framework agreement on Melaka state election cooperation

PAS and Barisan Nasional have achieved a basic framework agreement on cooperation for the Melaka state election, according to PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang.

The two political coalitions have successfully resolved the majority of matters under discussion during their negotiations, signaling substantial progress toward a formal alliance for the state-level contest.

Remaining points of contention centre on the distribution of state assembly seats to be contested by each coalition partner and the selection of candidates to represent the alliance, said Hadi. These technical matters typically require detailed bargaining between coalition partners to balance party interests and electoral viability across constituencies.

The framework agreement represents a significant step toward finalizing the electoral pact, with both coalitions appearing committed to resolving the outstanding issues before formally announcing their joint candidacy slate.

Further negotiations are expected to address the seat and candidate allocations in the coming weeks, clearing the way for a unified PAS-BN campaign strategy in Melaka.
