Abdul Hadi Awang said the grassroots membership of BN largely supports an alliance with PN for the upcoming Melaka polls, even as divisions appear evident at higher levels of the coalition. The PAS leader's comments suggest ongoing negotiations between BN and PN leadership over electoral cooperation in the state.
The PAS president remained optimistic that differences within BN would be resolved, pointing to support for a PN partnership among party members at grassroots level. His remarks indicate that while top-level consensus has not yet been achieved, momentum exists for the two coalitions to work together in the Melaka contest.
The potential alliance between BN and PN would reshape the electoral landscape in Melaka, where both coalitions have significant support bases. Coalition negotiations ahead of state elections have often involved complex discussions over seat allocations and campaign strategies.
Abdul Hadi's statement comes amid broader discussions in Malaysian politics about the evolving relationship between BN, which traditionally governed the country, and PN, which has gained prominence in recent years. The Melaka election could serve as a significant test of electoral cooperation between the two major political blocs.
