KUALA LUMPUR — Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang, president of PAS, announced on Monday that he has withdrawn from attempting to mediate the ongoing dispute involving party representatives in Perlis, stating that his advice had gone unheeded.
The veteran political leader made the announcement at the PAS Muktamar (annual general assembly), indicating that Perlis representatives had not followed his counsel in addressing the internal tensions.
Despite stepping back from active intervention, Abdul Hadi expressed confidence that the factional infighting would eventually reach a resolution. He did not elaborate on the specific nature of the disagreement or potential timeline for reconciliation.
The Perlis dispute has been a source of friction within the northern state's PAS branch for some time, with competing interests creating operational challenges for the party at the local level.
