KUALA LUMPUR — Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said most PAS leaders were unable to pay their final respects at the funeral of Tun Dr Hasmah Mohd Ali because of prior commitments that could not be postponed.
The PAS president's remarks came as a response to questions about the limited turnout of party officials at the state funeral of the widow of former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, who passed away recently.
Tuan Ibrahim did not elaborate on the specific nature of these prior engagements, but emphasised that the absence was not a reflection of disrespect toward the late Tun Dr Hasmah or her family.
Tun Dr Hasmah, 90, was a prominent figure in Malaysian public life and a respected advocate for women's causes during her decades in the public eye. Her passing drew tributes from across the political spectrum, with many noting her significant contributions to the nation's social fabric.
