PAS does not need to heed Puad Zarkashi's views on taking over the position of opposition leader from Hamzah Zainudin, according to the party's treasurer Iskandar Zulkarnain.
The treasurer's remarks suggest PAS is not focused on securing the opposition leadership post, despite suggestions from within party ranks that the role should change hands.
Puad Zarkashi, a prominent PAS figure, had previously advocated for the party to take over the opposition leader position. However, party leadership appears to have decided that pursuing the role is not a priority at this time.
The opposition leader position has been held by Hamzah Zainudin, who leads the opposition coalition in parliament. The statement from PAS's treasurer indicates the party is content to maintain the current arrangement rather than push for leadership changes within the opposition bloc.
The development reflects ongoing discussions within the opposition coalition regarding power-sharing arrangements and leadership roles among its component parties.
