PAS told to prioritise party funds over Najib contribution

PAS members have been instructed to prioritise party funding obligations before making donations to a collection drive for Najib Razak's outstanding court-ordered fine, according to party leadership.

PAS treasurer-general noted that the fundraising target for Najib's penalty appeared achievable without requiring significant contributions from PAS supporters.

The comments suggest that Umno, Najib's former party, possesses sufficient capacity to independently meet the RM50 million financial obligation through its own supporter base and fundraising mechanisms.

Najib was convicted in 2023 and ordered to pay the substantial fine as part of his sentencing in a high-profile legal case. Various groups have since launched fundraising initiatives to assist with the payment, drawing participation from across the political spectrum.
