PAS Youth Defends Religious Focus, Criticizes Coalition Partners

KUALA LUMPUR — PAS Youth delegates have doubled down on the party's Islamic-focused agenda, dismissing criticism from coalition partners DAP and Amanah as they insisted their approach remains essential to Malaysia's Muslim majority.

Speaking at the Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party's annual congress, party youth representatives argued that Pakatan Harapan has fallen short in safeguarding religious and communal concerns since the coalition came to power. The remarks underscore persistent tensions within the opposition alliance over how to balance secular governance with religious and ethnic representation.

The youth wing defended what critics term "religious populism," framing their advocacy as a legitimate response to the needs of Malaysia's Muslim and Malay communities.
