PAS Youth warns Gerakan against contesting Seberang Jaya seat

A senior PAS Youth official has advised Gerakan to reconsider any plans to contest the Seberang Jaya state seat, arguing that the constituency's demographic composition makes it an unsuitable battleground for the component party.

The Permatang Pauh PAS Youth chief noted that Seberang Jaya is predominantly Malay in voter composition, suggesting that Gerakan's historical performance in comparable constituencies does not support a competitive campaign.

The warning appears to reference Gerakan's defeat in the Bayan Lepas state seat, where the party faced electoral challenges in a constituency with a similar voter profile. That result is being cited as an indicator of Gerakan's limited appeal among Malay-majority electorates.

The remarks highlight ongoing negotiations within Malaysia's ruling coalition over seat allocation ahead of state-level elections. Component parties have traditionally sought to contest seats where their respective voter bases hold numerical advantages.

Geakan has not yet responded publicly to the PAS Youth statement regarding its electoral strategy in Seberang Jaya.
