CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro — The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) recovered 11 units of suspected illegally cut timber valued at approximately P55,000 during a joint operation Sunday on Sibuyan Island in Romblon.
Authorities responded to an intelligence report received at 7:50 a.m. regarding illicit round logs discovered near the island. The coordinated enforcement action reflects intensified vigilance against illegal logging operations that continue to threaten forest resources in the region.
The confiscated timber has been turned over to the DENR for further investigation and processing. Both agencies have vowed to sustain their collaborative efforts in combating environmental crimes and protecting the nation's remaining timber reserves.
