CALAPAN CITY — The Philippine Coast Guard's District Southern Tagalog conducted heightened monitoring operations across ports in the region on Monday, recording 9,643 passenger movements during a six-hour surveillance period. The screening effort, part of enhanced security protocols during the Undas season, documented 6,750 outbound travelers and 2,893 inbound passengers between 6 a.m. and noon. The increased vigilance reflects ongoing efforts by coastal authorities to maintain safety and security at maritime gateways during the All Souls' Day holiday, when travel volumes typically surge as Filipinos visit cemeteries and observe traditional observances. The Coast Guard District Southern Tagalog oversees marine operations across multiple provinces in the Calabarzon region and adjacent areas. Officials have maintained elevated alert status at all port facilities throughout the extended Undas holiday period to ensure passenger safety and prevent unauthorized maritime movements.
