MANILA — The Philippine Coast Guard recorded a significant volume of passenger traffic at ports nationwide on Tuesday, Nov. 3, as the observance of All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day, collectively known as Undas, drew to a close.
According to PCG data, 83,458 passengers moved through the nation's ports during the monitoring period beginning at 6 a.m. The movement comprised 44,720 outbound travelers and 38,738 inbound passengers, reflecting the typical pattern of holiday-related domestic travel as Filipinos returned from provincial visits.
The Undas holiday period traditionally sees increased passenger traffic at seaports as families travel to provincial cemeteries to commemorate deceased relatives. The PCG's monitoring operations ensure the safe and orderly movement of travelers during peak holiday periods.
The coast guard's data provides insight into domestic travel patterns during significant cultural observances and helps authorities assess port capacity and service delivery during peak periods.
