PCSO, NBI shut down Caloocan lottery outlet running illegal numbers game

The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) and National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) executed a coordinated raid on an authorized lottery outlet in Caloocan on Wednesday, November 4, after discovering the establishment was operating an illegal numbers game under cover of its legitimate government license.

Undercover operatives from both agencies identified suspicious activity at the outlet that indicated the operators were accepting bets on illegal lottery numbers in addition to selling authorized PCSO products. The findings prompted the joint enforcement action by PCSO officials and agents from the NBI's Fraud and Financial Crimes Division.

One individual working as a teller at the outlet was taken into custody during the operation. Authorities did not immediately disclose additional details regarding charges or the extent of the illegal gaming operation.

The raid represents ongoing efforts by PCSO and law enforcement agencies to combat illegal gambling activities that operate under the guise of authorized lottery retailers. Officials have intensified operations to ensure licensed outlets comply with regulations and do not facilitate unauthorized wagering schemes.
