Peacekeeping funds confirmed for October, education support pledged to MILF

COTABATO CITY — Funding for the Joint Peace and Security Team (JPST) operating across Mindanao will be released in October, according to officials from the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity (OPAPRU).
The JPST comprises personnel from the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Philippine National Police tasked with maintaining stability in conflict-affected areas of Mindanao. The assurance of continued financial support underscores the government's commitment to sustaining joint peacekeeping operations in the region.
Beyond security operations, OPAPRU also confirmed that educational assistance programs for MILF members would continue. The education support represents part of broader peace-building initiatives aimed at reintegrating combatants and former conflict participants into civilian life.
The funding confirmation comes as the government pursues implementation of the 2014 Bangsamoro Framework Agreement, which established mechanisms for power-sharing and resource allocation in historically conflict-prone areas of the southern Philippines.
