Penang has unveiled a series of financial incentives aimed at supporting different segments of its population in the coming year. Newly-married couples registering their marriages in the state will receive RM500 wedding presents, marking a recognition of an important life milestone.
The incentive package extends to the gig economy workforce, with e-hailing drivers set to receive a one-off payment of RM600. The move reflects efforts by the state administration to provide relief to workers in the transportation sector, which has faced various challenges in recent times.
State civil servants will also benefit from the announcement, receiving a bonus equivalent to one month's salary in December. This bonus is expected to boost household spending during the year-end festive season and provide additional financial support to government employees.
The initiatives underscore the Penang administration's commitment to providing targeted financial support across various segments of society, from families marking important occasions to essential service workers and public sector employees.
