Penang PKR chief distances party from Guan Eng's Umno stance

Penang Pakatan Harapan's leadership has clarified that the state party does not align with DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng's stance regarding Umno, according to party officials on Monday.
Chow, the Penang PKR chief, urged party leaders and members to exercise patience while the coalition's presidential council deliberates on the matter. The clarification comes amid ongoing discussions within the ruling coalition about its relationship with the opposition Umno party.
"We should wait for the presidential council's decision before making any individual statements," Chow said, emphasizing the importance of maintaining unified messaging across Pakatan Harapan's constituent parties.
The remarks highlight potential differences in approach among coalition members regarding Umno, with the Penang chapter seeking to distance itself from positions taken by national party leaders. Pakatan Harapan has traditionally opposed Umno, though previous collaboration between the groups has occurred in specific political contexts.
