Penang police arrest seven in drug bust worth RM3.2 million

A married couple was among seven individuals detained in coordinated operations by the Penang Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department. Officers recovered drugs valued at RM3.2 million during the raids.

GEORGE TOWN — Penang police have arrested seven suspects, including a husband and wife, following a series of drug enforcement operations across the state. The Penang Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department conducted the raids, which resulted in the seizure of controlled substances with a combined street value of RM3.2 million.

The coordinated operations targeted multiple locations as part of the state police's ongoing efforts to dismantle drug trafficking networks. The arrested individuals are currently assisting police with investigations into the source and distribution networks of the seized drugs.

Police said the seizures represent a significant blow to drug trafficking activities in the Penang area. The cases are being investigated under the Dangerous Drugs Act, with further details to be disclosed upon completion of the preliminary investigation stage.
