GEORGE TOWN — Two major port operators in Penang are joining Malaysia Day festivities by offering free ferry services to the public on the national holiday.

The Penang Port Commission (SPPP) and Penang Port Sdn Bhd (PPSB) announced the initiative to commemorate Malaysia Day, which marks the formation of the Malaysian federation on Sept 16.

The complimentary ferry service is intended to provide accessible transportation for residents and visitors across Penang's waterways during the celebrations. Both organisations are partnering to ensure smooth operations throughout the day.

This gesture reflects the port operators' commitment to community engagement and supporting national observances in the state. The free ferry service aims to ease congestion and encourage public participation in Malaysia Day festivities across the island.

Members of the public seeking to utilise the free ferry services are advised to check with the respective operators for specific route schedules and operational details on the day.
