KOTA KINABALU — Transport infrastructure development in Sabah continues to be a priority for the Madani Government, according to Sabah's PKR component, which has pushed back against suggestions that major projects elsewhere should be benchmarked against the state's annual road funding.
The PKR faction argued that infrastructure investments cannot be fairly compared across different scales and timeframes, particularly when evaluating Sabah's road development budgets against mega projects undertaken in other states.
The comments come amid ongoing discussions about development spending allocations across Malaysia's states. PKR representatives emphasised that Sabah's transport infrastructure programme reflects the government's commitment to improving connectivity and economic development in the state.
Sabah remains focused on expanding its road network and improving accessibility to both urban and rural areas, officials indicated. The state government has sought to balance infrastructure investments with other development priorities facing the peninsula's largest state by area.
