Penang to close Jalan Magazine for three weeks of LRT construction

Jalan Magazine in George Town will undergo a full closure from September 14 for a duration of 21 days to accommodate road widening works related to the Light Rail Transit (LRT) project, authorities announced Wednesday.
The Penang LRT project team confirmed the extended closure is necessary to facilitate critical infrastructure development along the busy arterial road. The three-week shutdown will allow contractors to accelerate construction activities while ensuring proper safety protocols are maintained throughout the work zone.
Transport authorities have urged residents and commuters to utilize alternative routes during this period to minimize disruption to daily traffic flow. The project team is coordinating with relevant agencies to ensure adequate signage and clear diversion routes are in place before the closure begins.
