PepsiCo announced Friday that its sustainability programme is delivering tangible commercial returns alongside environmental gains, with India identified as a priority market for expanded deployment. The company's 2025 Environmental, Social and Governance Performance Update details progress across multiple sustainability metrics, underscoring the business case for embedding environmental responsibility into core operations.
The beverage and snacks giant has extended regenerative, restorative and protective farming practices across 4.7 million acres in more than 60 countries. Additionally, PepsiCo has achieved 100 per cent water replenishment at company-owned facilities located in high-water-risk regions, and reduced virgin plastic consumption in primary packaging by 6 per cent year-over-year.
Jim Andrew, PepsiCo's Chief Sustainability Officer, said the company is building momentum through the initiative while evolving its product portfolio to offer consumers more choices. "We're transforming our business end to end," Andrew said, emphasising the long-term value creation embedded in the sustainability strategy.
In the Indian market, PepsiCo is deploying its sustainability goals through a "Partnership for Progress" framework, engaging local stakeholders and communities in the implementation process. The approach reflects the company's strategy to integrate environmental stewardship with business growth in one of South Asia's most important consumer markets.
