Peradeniya alumni donate Rs 1.5m to repair cyclone damage

The Colombo Chapter of the University of Peradeniya Alumni Association has pledged Rs. 1.5 million to restore critical communication infrastructure at the Faculty of Management following extensive damage caused by Cyclone Ditwah.

The Alumni Association of the University of Peradeniya (AAUP) – Colombo Chapter has committed funds to rebuild essential facilities at the Faculty of Management that were severely disrupted by Cyclone Ditwah. The donation of Rs. 1.5 million will be directed toward restoring communication systems damaged during the natural disaster.

The cyclone caused significant disruption to both academic and administrative operations at the faculty. Critical infrastructure supporting day-to-day institutional functions was among the hardest hit by the severe weather event.

The financial contribution from the alumni association represents a swift response to the university's infrastructure challenges. The funds will enable the restoration of communication facilities essential for resuming normal operations across the faculty's academic and administrative departments.

The gesture underscores the ongoing commitment of the university's alumni network to supporting the institution during times of crisis. The AAUP – Colombo Chapter's intervention is expected to facilitate the faster recovery of services at the Faculty of Management.
