Perak authorities probe 25 complaints of contaminated RON95 fuel

IPOH — The Perak office of the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) has received 25 complaints regarding suspected contamination of RON95 fuel, with preliminary investigations pointing to water intrusion in storage tanks as the likely culprit.

The complaints, which have been filed by consumers and service station operators, raised concerns about fuel quality and potential damage to vehicle engines. Authorities are examining storage facilities and distribution channels to determine the extent of the contamination and identify affected batches.

The ministry has urged consumers who suspect they have purchased contaminated fuel to report the matter immediately to the nearest KPDN office. Vehicle owners experiencing engine problems following fuel purchases are advised to retain receipts and documentation for investigation purposes.

Officials have not yet disclosed which fuel retailers or specific locations are involved in the suspected contamination. The probe comes as authorities intensify efforts to ensure fuel quality standards across the state's petrol distribution network.
