IPOH — Authorities in Perak have activated two temporary relief centres to house residents displaced by flooding that has affected multiple areas across the state. The centres are currently accommodating 58 people representing 17 families who were forced to evacuate their homes due to rising water levels.
State disaster management officials said the relief centres are equipped with basic provisions including food, water, and sanitation facilities to support evacuees during the emergency period. Volunteers and relevant agencies have been mobilised to provide ongoing assistance to affected families.
The flooding has impacted several communities across Perak, with water levels in affected areas reaching heights that necessitated immediate evacuation procedures. Local authorities are continuing to monitor weather conditions and water levels to assess when residents may safely return to their homes.
Relief and rescue operations remain ongoing, with emergency responders on standby in flood-prone areas. Residents are advised to avoid entering flood-affected zones and to follow advisories issued by the Perak State Disaster Management Committee.
