Perak keeps outdoor school activity ban despite improving air quality
Perak state authorities have decided to maintain their prohibition on outdoor school activities despite recent improvements in Air Pollutant Index readings across the state. The decision prioritises student health and safety amid ongoing air quality concerns.

IPOH, Oct 18 — Perak will continue its ban on outdoor school activities despite declining Air Pollutant Index (API) readings at four monitoring stations across the state, an executive councillor announced today.
The decision reflects the state government's cautious approach to student health and safety as air quality levels show signs of improvement. Officials noted that while recent API measurements have declined from previous peaks, conditions remain a concern that warrants maintaining current restrictions on outdoor educational activities.
The ban affects primary and secondary schools across the state and has been in place to protect students from exposure to air pollution. Teachers and school administrators have adapted curricula and outdoor learning programmes to comply with the restrictions.
State authorities indicated they will continue monitoring air quality data at designated stations throughout Perak before considering any relaxation of current measures. Health officials emphasised that the precautionary stance aligns with established protocols for protecting vulnerable populations, particularly children exposed to outdoor environments during extended periods.
