Perak police dismantle three major scam syndicates, arrest 36 suspects

IPOH, Oct 27 — Police in Perak have successfully broken up three criminal syndicates engaged in elaborate confidence schemes that defrauded victims across multiple countries, according to a statement from state police headquarters.

The joint operation resulted in 36 arrests as authorities moved against the networks operating from various locations within the state. The syndicates employed coordinated tactics including fraudulent telephone calls impersonating hospital staff, bogus investment opportunities and unauthorized loan schemes to extract money from unsuspecting victims in Malaysia, China and Japan.

Investigators seized electronic devices, documentation and other evidence during simultaneous raids conducted across multiple locations. Police said the syndicates operated with distinct roles and responsibilities, with members responsible for different stages of the fraud pipeline from initial contact through to fund collection.

The investigation revealed sophisticated operational methods designed to bypass victim verification and gain trust through impersonation of legitimate institutions. Authorities have launched further inquiries to identify additional suspects and trace proceeds from the fraudulent activities.

The Perak police force has urged the public to exercise caution when receiving unsolicited telephone calls or investment proposals, particularly those requesting immediate financial transfers or personal banking information. Anyone with information relating to scam activities is encouraged to contact local police stations.
