Perikatan-BN Melaka coalition talks over halfway done despite suspension

KUALA LUMPUR — Coalition negotiations for the upcoming Melaka state election are advancing despite a suspension order against Perikatan Nasional (PN) by the Registrar of Societies (RoS), according to PN official Takiyuddin Hassan. The talks between PN and Barisan Nasional (BN) have cleared more than halfway through their agenda, he said, indicating momentum continues on the political agreement regardless of the regulatory action.

The RoS suspension, which temporarily bars PN from operating as a registered entity, had raised questions about the coalition's ability to conduct negotiations and participate in electoral arrangements. However, Takiyuddin's comments suggest the parties have found ways to continue substantive discussions on the terms of any potential electoral alliance.
