Perikatan may use PAS logo in Melaka poll if suspension upheld

KUALA LUMPUR — Perikatan Nasional (PN) may pivot to contesting the Melaka state election under the PAS logo if the Registrar of Societies does not lift its suspension of the coalition, according to PN secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan.
The political alliance, which comprises PAS, Bersatu, and smaller parties, faces uncertainty following the RoS suspension. Takiyuddin indicated that using the Islamic party's symbol represents a viable contingency plan should efforts to overturn the suspension prove unsuccessful.
The RoS decision has complicated PN's electoral preparations, forcing the coalition to consider alternative approaches for the upcoming state poll. Party officials have been exploring options to ensure the alliance can still field candidates effectively regardless of the regulatory outcome.
PN's reliance on the PAS logo underscores the Islamic party's pivotal role within the coalition structure. The move would require coordination between the constituent parties to ensure a unified campaign strategy under the modified banner.
