Perikatan Nasional vows legal fight against RoS deregistration
The opposition coalition has announced plans to challenge the Registrar of Societies' decision to strike it from the register, signalling a protracted legal battle over its status as a political entity.

Perikatan Nasional (PN) said it will mount a legal challenge against the Registrar of Societies' (RoS) decision to deregister the coalition, with party leaders indicating they will also escalate the matter to the Home Ministry. PN secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan said the coalition is exploring all available remedies to contest what it views as an unjustified action by the RoS. The move represents a significant escalation in PN's dispute with the registry, which had moved to remove the coalition from its records. The coalition has framed the deregistration as part of broader political manoeuvring, arguing that it retains substantial support and legitimacy as an electoral force. PN's decision to pursue both legal and administrative channels suggests the coalition is determined to restore its official status ahead of any future electoral cycle, with the Home Ministry appeal marking an attempt to overturn the RoS decision at a higher governmental level.
