Perikatan returns Kota Laksamana seat to MCA ahead of Melaka polls

MELAKA — The Malaysian Chinese Association (MCA) has secured an additional state seat for the upcoming 16th Melaka state election after Perikatan Nasional agreed to return the Kota Laksamana constituency to the coalition partner.

The decision brings MCA's total number of contested seats in the state election to four, according to an announcement made on Tuesday. The move represents a last-minute adjustment to the seat allocation between the two political partners as they prepare for the state-level polls.

Kota Laksamana, a state constituency in Melaka, had previously been allocated to Perikatan but has now been ceded back to MCA as part of coalition negotiations ahead of the electoral contest.

The seat allocation reflects ongoing coordination between MCA and Perikatan Nasional as they finalise their campaign strategies for the state election. The return of the constituency suggests efforts by both parties to optimise their electoral positioning in Melaka.

With the addition of Kota Laksamana, MCA is poised to make a stronger showing in the state election, competing across multiple constituencies as part of the broader coalition effort.
