The Raja Muda of Perlis has embarked on a diplomatic mission to Central Asia, presenting the northern Malaysian state's economic opportunities to Uzbek audiences and business leaders. Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail participated in several initiatives in Samarkand, one of Uzbekistan's major cultural and commercial centres, to position Perlis as a regional hub in key sectors.
The royal delegation emphasised Perlis's competitive advantages in Islamic tourism, leveraging the state's Islamic heritage and infrastructure to attract visitors from Muslim-majority nations and globally. The Crown Prince also highlighted the state's burgeoning halal food industry, which has gained recognition across Southeast Asia and beyond, and its educational institutions that serve students from the wider region.
The visit underscores Malaysia's efforts to strengthen economic and cultural ties with Central Asian nations. Uzbekistan, strategically positioned along historic trade routes, offers potential partnerships for Malaysian businesses and investors seeking to expand into emerging markets.
Perlis, Malaysia's smallest state by land area, has increasingly sought to diversify its economy and raise its international profile through targeted promotional campaigns and strategic partnerships in key sectors aligned with global market demand.
