Perlis EMR system cuts patient wait times to under an hour

The PERSADA EMR (Electronic Medical Records) project in Perlis has delivered measurable improvements in healthcare delivery since its implementation, Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil said. The digitalisation initiative has enabled medical facilities in the northern state to streamline patient processing and reduce bottlenecks in appointment scheduling. More than 86 percent of patients are now able to consult with doctors within an hour of their arrival at healthcare facilities, representing a substantial improvement in service efficiency. The system integrates patient records across facilities, allowing healthcare providers to access comprehensive medical histories and reduce administrative delays. The PERSADA EMR rollout demonstrates the potential for digital health infrastructure to enhance healthcare accessibility in Malaysian states, with officials indicating the framework could serve as a model for expansion to other regions.
