Despite the digital savviness of younger demographics, Malaysia's political parties must maintain a balanced approach to voter outreach that combines online and offline methods, PKR Youth leader Kamil Munim has emphasized.
Munim acknowledged that social media has become an important channel for reaching younger voters, who demonstrate higher levels of digital engagement compared to older generations. However, he cautioned against overreliance on digital platforms at the expense of traditional campaigning methods.
The PKR Youth chief stressed that direct, personal interaction remains a crucial component of political engagement and voter persuasion. Ground-level campaigning activities allow parties to build meaningful connections with voters and address concerns in real time, he noted.
His remarks highlight an ongoing tension in Malaysian politics as parties navigate the evolving media landscape. Many political organizations have expanded their digital presence significantly in recent years, yet seasoned campaigners continue to maintain that personal contact with constituents delivers tangible results in mobilizing electoral support.
