PG operator arrested after Delhi building collapse kills seven
Police have arrested a paying guest accommodation operator in connection with the collapse of a five-storey building in Delhi's Satya Niketan that claimed seven lives. Investigators are examining the roles of leaseholders and construction work at the site.

A co-owner of 'Hostel Daze', a paying guest facility, has been taken into custody as part of the investigation into the building collapse that occurred in the upscale Satya Niketan locality. The arrested operator, identified as Sudhanshu, is one of two business partners who leased the property and converted it into residential accommodation.
According to police sources, the building's owner, Mahesh, entered into a lease agreement with Sudhanshu and his partner Shubham Tyagi in August 2025. The duo subsequently began operating the premises as a paying guest establishment. Tyagi remains at large, with law enforcement continuing efforts to locate him for questioning.
The investigation has expanded to include construction and repair work carried out at the site. A labour contractor named Sanoj has already been apprehended in connection with the case. Sanoj is being brought from Kasganj in Uttar Pradesh to Delhi for interrogation regarding construction and maintenance activities at the building.
Police have indicated that their probe will focus on the responsibilities of the leaseholders in maintaining the structural integrity of the building, as well as the nature and quality of any renovation or repair work undertaken during their tenure of the property.
