PH-BN to finalise Melaka election strategy by Malaysia Day
Pakatan Harapan and Barisan Nasional aim to decide their approach to the Melaka state polls by August 31, according to PKR's election director. Both coalitions must approve any electoral arrangement before it takes effect.

Discussions between Pakatan Harapan and Barisan Nasional on their strategy for the upcoming Melaka state election are expected to conclude by Malaysia Day, said PKR election director Amirudin Shari on Tuesday.
Amirudin stated that negotiations remain in preliminary stages, with both parties still exploring potential arrangements. He stressed that any deal struck between PH and BN would require formal approval from leadership structures within both coalitions before implementation.
The PKR official's remarks come as speculation grows over whether the two major political blocs might coordinate their efforts in Melaka, a state that has experienced considerable political volatility in recent years. Such an arrangement would represent a significant shift in the state's political landscape.
Amirudin did not provide specific details about the nature of discussions or the possible outcomes being considered. He reiterated that the August 31 deadline would allow sufficient time for decision-making before campaigning commences.
The Melaka state assembly was dissolved in October 2022, and the state has been under caretaker administration since then. The electoral commission has yet to announce an official polling date.
