JASIN, Nov 2 — Pakatan Harapan (PH) has lodged a police report against the Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate for the Rim state assembly seat in Melaka, accusing the candidate of improperly utilising government assets in campaign activities.
The opposition coalition alleged that state resources and facilities were deployed for electioneering purposes in violation of electoral conduct guidelines. PH representatives said they have documented evidence of the alleged misconduct and plan to submit their findings to the Election Commission (EC) for further investigation and appropriate action.
The complaint comes amid heightened scrutiny of campaign practices ahead of state elections in the peninsula. Electoral authorities have consistently warned candidates from all political parties against misusing public resources, which constitutes a serious breach of election regulations.
BN has not immediately responded to the allegations. The EC typically investigates such complaints and can impose sanctions ranging from warnings to disqualification, depending on the severity of violations established during the inquiry.
