PhilHealth expands coverage to include short hospital stays

MANILA — PhilHealth announced it is broadening its coverage to include hospital stays of less than 24 hours, effective September 18, as part of its ongoing implementation of the Universal Health Care Act.
The move aligns with Republic Act No. 11223 and follows PhilHealth Circular No. 2026-0013, which was issued on September 11. The expanded benefits apply to covered inpatient admissions that meet the corporation's prescribed qualifications and requirements.
The new provision aims to improve access to hospital care for Filipinos, particularly those requiring short-term inpatient treatment. PhilHealth members who require admission for less than 24 hours will be eligible for coverage, provided they satisfy the corporation's eligibility criteria.
The expansion represents PhilHealth's continued effort to fulfill the objectives of the Universal Health Care Act, which seeks to ensure equitable access to healthcare services for all Filipinos.
