STA. BARBARA, Pangasinan — Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth) is moving to maximize health benefit packages available to children and young people with disabilities, according to acting President and Chief Executive Officer Beverly Lorraine Ho.
The state health insurer plans to boost enrollment in its YAKAP program through school-based health caravans designed to reach children across the country. The initiative seeks to provide vulnerable youth with improved access to primary healthcare services and preventive care in their communities.
Under the expanded coverage, eligible children and youth with disabilities will gain access to eyeglasses and rehabilitation therapy packages as part of PhilHealth's enhanced benefits. The school-based approach aims to reduce barriers to healthcare access by bringing enrollment and services directly to educational institutions.
The move reflects PhilHealth's commitment to addressing healthcare gaps among marginalized segments of the population.
