Philippine airfares set to climb as fuel surcharge rises in November
Airlines operating routes to and from the Philippines will impose higher fuel surcharges from November 1, with the levy moving to its highest level in recent months. The increase reflects rising jet fuel costs and is expected to push up ticket prices for regional travellers.

Fuel surcharges on flights to and from the Philippines will jump to Level 17 starting November 1, up from Level 16 in the preceding period, according to industry notifications issued in late October.
The escalation of the surcharge—a variable fee airlines add to base fares to offset fluctuating fuel costs—will remain in effect through November 15. This represents the highest surcharge level applied to Philippine routes in recent months, signalling mounting pressure on carrier operating costs.
Passengers booking tickets on major carriers serving Manila and other Philippine gateways should expect higher total fares, particularly on longer regional routes where fuel surcharges represent a more substantial portion of the ticket price. The increase is likely to affect both leisure and business travellers throughout Southeast Asia and beyond.
Airline fuel surcharges typically adjust every two weeks based on prevailing crude oil and jet fuel prices in global markets. The move to Level 17 suggests sustained elevated energy costs, a persistent challenge for carriers operating in the region as international travel demand continues to recover post-pandemic.
