The Philippine Army's 11th Infantry (Alakdan) Division formally initiated the Inter-Agency Territorial Defense Operations "Orion's Taming" Exercise 2026 in Sulu on Wednesday, marking a significant effort to strengthen coordinated response mechanisms across the region.

The simulated exercise brings together personnel from government agencies, military units, and disaster-response organizations to evaluate their collective ability to respond to security threats and emergencies. The drill tests communication protocols, operational procedures, and inter-agency coordination that would be essential during actual territorial defense scenarios.

The exercise represents part of broader efforts by the Armed Forces of the Philippines to enhance operational readiness and ensure seamless cooperation among stakeholders responsible for national security and public safety in the province.

Sulu has long been a focus of military and security operations due to persistent threats from armed groups. The exercise provides an opportunity to identify gaps in existing protocols and strengthen the institutional capacity of responding agencies to manage security crises effectively.
