Philippine authorities seize over 63,000 pesos in illegal forest products
Police and environment officials in the MIMAROPA region arrested two suspects and confiscated illegally harvested forest materials valued at more than P63,000 during coordinated operations across Romblon and Palawan provinces.

The Philippine National Police Regional Office in MIMAROPA, working jointly with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, conducted the anti-illegal logging operations on Thursday across multiple island provinces. Two individuals were taken into custody during the separate enforcement actions targeting the unlawful harvesting and transport of forest resources.
Officials seized forest products estimated at over P63,700 in combined market value from the operations. The joint enforcement initiative underscores ongoing efforts by authorities to combat environmental crimes that threaten the region's forest ecosystems and biodiversity.
The MIMAROPA region, encompassing Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, and Palawan, has long been identified as vulnerable to illegal logging activities due to its significant forest cover and remote terrain. Authorities have intensified anti-poaching and anti-logging operations in recent months as part of broader environmental protection initiatives.
The arrested individuals are expected to face charges under forestry and environmental protection laws. The confiscated materials will be documented and processed according to DENR procedures.
