Philippine Coast Guard halts small vessel operations in northern Quezon

LUCENA CITY, Quezon — The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) ordered a halt to small-vessel operations in northern Quezon on Wednesday afternoon, citing severe sea conditions generated by Super Typhoon Rosal. The suspension was issued following the 5 p.m. weather bulletin from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), which warned of rough seas threatening the area.

The PCG station in Real, Quezon issued the public advisory as the typhoon's powerful winds and wave action posed significant risks to inter-island ferry services and other small-craft operations. Local maritime authorities advised passengers and vessel operators to postpone travel plans until weather conditions improve.

The suspension is part of precautionary measures implemented across the region as Super Typhoon Rosal approaches Philippine waters. The PCG continues to monitor weather updates and will announce the resumption of small-vessel operations once seas reach safe levels for navigation.
