MANILA — The Budget Amendments Review Sub-committee has raised the Department of Public Works and Highways' proposed 2027 budget by P11.49 billion, reflecting legislative priorities on infrastructure development across the archipelago.

The majority of the boost—P6.91 billion—has been allocated to the DPWH's National Roads program, underscoring the government's continued emphasis on expanding and improving the country's road network. The additional funding represents a significant commitment to connectivity initiatives that officials say will support economic development and regional integration.

The sub-committee's decision reflects ongoing legislative efforts to strengthen infrastructure spending as a priority in the national budget. The DPWH has been a focal point of public investment discussions, with road projects considered essential for linking remote communities and facilitating commerce.

The allocation now moves through the legislative budget process and remains subject to further review and approval by the full Congress before the final 2027 budget is enacted.
