Philippine police mobilize ahead of Typhoon Obet's arrival

The Philippine National Police (PNP) has begun mobilizing its disaster response infrastructure as Typhoon Saudel approaches the Philippine area of responsibility, PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. announced Thursday.

The agency is actively monitoring the tropical cyclone's trajectory and intensity while establishing coordination protocols with local government units across potentially affected regions. Officials said the preparatory measures aim to ensure swift operational deployment should Obet bring severe weather conditions to populated areas.

The PNP's response efforts include positioning personnel and equipment in strategic locations and maintaining real-time communication channels with municipal and provincial authorities. Police units have been directed to conduct pre-storm assessments of critical infrastructure and identify vulnerable communities requiring priority assistance.
