Philippine provinces pledge continued backing for BARMM

KORONADAL CITY — The League of Provinces of the Philippines (LPP) has renewed its pledge to support the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) as the autonomous government continues its development initiatives.

Governor Reynaldo Tamayo Jr. of South Cotabato, who leads the LPP, made the commitment known during a Wednesday visit to BARMM Chief Minister Abdulraof Macacua. The courtesy call provided an opportunity for Tamayo to extend personal congratulations to Macacua on his assumption of leadership.

The reaffirmation of provincial backing underscores the importance of inter-regional cooperation within Mindanao. The BARMM, established through the Bangsamoro Organic Law, has been working to implement programs and policies affecting the region's Muslim population and broader communities.

The visit reflects ongoing efforts to strengthen ties between the autonomous region and neighboring provincial governments. Such support from the LPP signals broader acceptance of BARMM's role in the governance framework of Mindanao and the wider Philippines.
