Philippine Schools Suspend In-Person Classes Due to Southwest Monsoon
Several municipalities in Pampanga have halted face-to-face classes on Monday as the southwest monsoon brings heavy rainfall to the region. The suspensions are expected to remain in effect through mid-week.

MANILA — In-person classes have been suspended in select areas across Pampanga province on Monday, September 14, as the southwest monsoon system intensifies over Luzon. The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration indicated that habagat conditions are affecting weather patterns in the region.
Santo Tomas, Pampanga has suspended all levels of instruction in both public and private schools until September 19. San Simon, Pampanga has also implemented class suspensions as the monsoon brings sustained rainfall to the province. School officials have advised students and parents to remain indoors and avoid unnecessary travel during the suspension period.
The weather service noted that habagat conditions are expected to gradually weaken over Luzon in the coming days. Residents have been cautioned to remain vigilant as monsoon rains could trigger flooding and landslides in susceptible areas. School administrators have not yet announced whether additional suspensions will be implemented pending weather developments.
