Philippine Space Agency alerts public to possible Chinese rocket debris

The Philippine Space Agency (PhilSa) on Wednesday evening issued an advisory to the public in coastal communities, urging them to report any suspected debris discovered at sea following the confirmed launch of a Chinese rocket.

China's Long March 8A rocket lifted off from the Hainan International Commercial Launch Center in Wenchang, Hainan province, at approximately 9:33 p.m. Wednesday. The rocket launch prompted PhilSa to alert residents in maritime areas to watch for any debris that may enter Philippine waters.

Members of the public who spot suspected rocket debris are encouraged to immediately report their findings to relevant authorities. The advisory comes as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of coastal communities and maritime activities in the region.

China regularly conducts rocket launches from its Hainan facility, which has occasionally resulted in debris concerns for neighboring countries in Southeast Asia.
