Philippines allocates P27.4B for health aid to indigent patients

The Department of Budget and Management has released P27.4 billion to the Department of Health to bolster healthcare services for indigent and financially incapacitated patients through the Medical Assistance to Indigent and Financially Incapacitated Patients (MAIFIP) program.

Of the total allocation, P19.145 billion has been designated for DOH Centers as part of the initiative to expand medical assistance coverage across the country. The program aims to provide accessible healthcare services to vulnerable populations unable to afford treatment costs.

The funding release represents a significant government commitment to addressing healthcare disparities among economically disadvantaged sectors. MAIFIP serves as a crucial safety net for patients requiring medical interventions, ensuring that financial constraints do not prevent access to essential health services.
