MANILA — Fair weather is expected to prevail across the Philippines on Friday, with only scattered rainshowers anticipated as the southwest monsoon continues to lose intensity, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

In its 5 a.m. weather briefing, PAGASA weather specialist Obet Badrina noted that while the habagat, or southwest monsoon, remains active over the country, its weakening trend should keep conditions generally favorable for most of the nation.

The agency advised residents in western coastal areas and elevated regions to remain alert for possible localized downpours, though widespread rainfall is not anticipated. Most lowland and urban areas should experience intermittent sunshine with occasional light showers.

Boaters and fishermen operating in western waters are urged to exercise caution as moderate seas remain possible due to the residual monsoon influence. PAGASA will continue monitoring the weather system and issue updates as conditions develop throughout the day.
